Abstract

The use of medication via a tube is frequent in hospitals, requiring some care to ensure the effectiveness and safety of
the treatment. The aim of this study was to know what are the main problems related to the use of medication via tube
in hospitals. As a method, a integrative literature review was carried out. With the search and application of the inclusion
and exclusion criteria, 16 studies were obtained. Studies have shown that, currently, in hospitals in various locations
in Brazil and the world, there are many inadequacies related to the use of medication via a tube, with the lack of
knowledge of the professionals involved being an important cause. Therefore, it is necessary to have a multiprofessional
involvement in the administration of medicines through this route, in addition to frequent training of the team involved,
with the pharmacist having an important role in this process.
