Abstract

Post-COVID-19 syndrome is defined as a set of long-term complications that arise after infection with COVID-19. Among the various multisystem symptoms that patients may present, we have the appearance of tremors. The objective of this study is to report the case of a patient who presented kinetic tremor in the fingers after COVID-19 infection and whose administration of curcuma may have contributed to the improvement of this symptom. Information was obtained through physical examination and interview with the patient. Among the various plants that are recognized for their antioxidant and neuroprotective potential, Curcuma longa L stands out. These beneficial health effects are due to the main constituent found in its rhizome: curcumin. The protective effect of curcumin against neuroperipheral diseases was demonstrated by in vivo and in vitro studies, suggesting a possible beneficial effect of turmeric in improving the patient's post-COVID-19 tremors. The study may encourage the performance of randomized clinical trials to prove this effect.
