Abstract

Evaluating the course with the graduates is a very useful tool for higher education institutions to diagnose and repair strategic issues in order to implement improvements in the training of graduates. This article presents a survey of Pharmacy graduates from the Federal University of the Jequitinhonha and Mucuri Valleys - UFVJM, who graduated between 2006 and 2021. The objectives of this research were to evaluate the graduates in order to highlight the profile of the professional pharmacist who graduated from UFVJM, taking into account demographic variables, academic background, areas of activity, rate of pay, region of Brazil in which they worked and professional interests related to the activities they were carrying out at the time of the study. Another objective of the survey was to evaluate the undergraduate Pharmacy education offered by UFVJM in order to identify demands for improving the course's pedagogical project and to build indicators that can consolidate the potential identified in the course, as well as contributing to the implementation of actions to tackle the weaknesses identified. The graduates answered an electronic form and a descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of the results was carried out. Most of the graduates are from the state of Minas Gerais and work in pharmacy providing clinical services. For 60.3% of the graduates, the Pharmacy degree course prepared them for the job market and met their expectations. The results found in this study made it possible to evaluate important aspects that made it possible to define the profile of pharmacists graduating from UFVJM, highlight the main deficiencies in the training of these professionals for the job market and adjust the PPC and pedagogical-educational issues of the Pharmacy course at the HEI studied, so that it meets the demands of society and the professional academic environment.
